Sepal Design Studio is a Minnesota interior design studio founded in 2024 by me, Jennie Haugen. While based in the Minneapolis - St. Paul metro, I can provide virtual interior design services for jobs anywhere in the country. Sepal Design Studio is focused on new-build custom homes, high-end home renovations, and small-scale commercial interior design including restaurants, boutique hotels, retail, workplace, and multi-family. As an NCIDQ & WELL certificate holder with 6+ years of experience working in the architecture & design industry, I bring technical knowledge to the table, balanced with a love of creating beautiful, functional spaces.
The name “Sepal Design Studio” stems from a personal relationship I have with flowers & gardening and the memories they hold for me. The sepals of a flower are the outer “leaves/petals” that enclose and protect the flower bud until it is ready to bloom. I aim to create interiors that support, shelter, and inspire while allowing beautiful experiences to “bloom” inside of them.
Timeless Interior Design, Environmentally Conscious
Sustainable design is very important to me. I respect the earth and believe good design can help reduce the cyclical renovations of trends. I hope that in 20 years from now, your space still feels relevant. When possible, I like to work with existing materials and see if we can bring new life to the space without totally starting from scratch. Sourcing locally is ideal and supporting local artisans is a goal. I love to include vintage furniture and found pieces in my furnishings that create a depth and story in the space, while keeping products out of landfills.

At Sepal Design Studio, I always start with a design concept to drive an interior design project forward. As I get to know you and build a relationship through questionnaires, site visits, and meetings, I look for key inspiration that helps develop a concept. This concept will feel personal to you, will tell your story, and will guide the project to a cohesive final product.
